Motorcycle Oil change It And Help Prevent Engine Failure

Motorcycle oil is the life blood for your engine. Over a period of time engine oil breaks down and can not protect your internal engine from wear. This is why it must be changed at a regular interval. Over a period of time your oil get contaminated from wearing parts and gas by products which keep the oil from doing its job.

When the oil looses its lubricating properties the internal parts of your engine wear prematurely causing early engine failure. The oil filter also has a very important role and must be changed on a regular basis. When a oil filter become clogged with grit and other particles most filters are bypassed causing accelerated wear of the engine. So always replace the oil and filter according to your owners manual.

Always use a quality oil and filter follow your manual for the proper grade of oil. Some motorcycles use the same oil to for the clutch and require you use a special oil for this. If you use the wrong oil this can cause problems with clutch engagement so follow factory manual. Its always a good idea if your bike will be sitting up over the winter to change the oil and filter before storage.

Before changing the oil its a good idea to warm the engine first. Locate your oil filter many bikes have the car type filter and a filter wrench can be used to remove it. Before reinstalling the filter make sure the gasket came off with the old filter, if not remove it. Lube the gasket surface with oil and install it snug do not over tighten it. Fill the engine to proper level and check for leaks now start the engine and recheck for leaks.
